December Holiday Activities!February 3, 2016
It is that time of year again. Time to focus on the good and spread cheer to all those around you. Here at Bridgewater, we are doing our best to give everyone a fabulous holiday season. Whether you are celebrating Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or another holiday, we hope you have a wonderful time with your family and friends this season.
We have a full calendar of activities for our residents this month. Most celebrate Christmas, so that is the holiday on which we are focusing.
Christmas Card Writing
One of the best things about this time of year is getting Christmas cards in the mail from family and friends. It has been a busy year, and while we don’t always have time to talk to everyone we know and love throughout the year, we want to know what they have been up to. The Christmas card tradition is a wonderful way to let people know that, while you may have drifted apart during the year, they are still on your mind and on your Christmas card list. That’s why we will be writing Christmas cards to all our family and friends on Monday December 7th, giving us plenty of time to get them out before Christmas. (If I were you, I’d be waiting by my mailbox in anticipation…)
Christmas Tree Tours
The halls of Bridgewater are dressed in holiday style!! Christmas decorations are filling the units and everyone on them with holly jolly happiness. Each unit is proud of its individuality and creativity, and the residents and staff want to strut their stuff and show off to the residents on the other units. So, back by popular demand…. Christmas Tree Tours. Be prepared to be wowed and overwhelmed with the beauty and majesty of all the trees and decorations filling the units. On Wednesday December 9th, the Christmas Tree Tour is on, and inspiring Grinch-like jealousy is the goal. Here’s to making everything merry and bright!!
Unit Holiday Parties
Is there anything better than getting together in a big group, letting loose, and having a fabulous time? The time to party is here! Each unit will be individually celebrating the season with a holiday party, and oh, what a party it will be! An entertainer will be attending the festivities to help boost the holiday cheer and fun through the roof. The music entertainment will be provided by either the Orange Blossum Special, or Ted, a harpist. Holiday games will be played, holiday food will be eaten, and holiday cheer will be overflowing.
The holiday itself will start out right. The Bridgewater Choir will be performing on Christmas Eve. This group of carolers consists of around 25 residents and is led by the talented Community Life staff member, Amanda. They will be entertaining all with a selection of well known and beloved Christmas and Hanukkah songs. The next morning, presents will be passed out to each and every resident. Many of the presents that will be given have been donated by various community organizations and churches. To read more about this wonderful generosity, please visit our Community Page. The rest of the day will be filled with traditional Christmas movie favorites like Its a Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street, White Christmas, and many more.
New Years Eve
How could anyone forget about the biggest party day of the year?? Don’t worry, we didn’t forget either. On New Year’s Eve, the residents will be getting down and partying it up with all their friends. The parties will be swinging and the residents will attempt to contain their enthusiasm and harness it into hat making creativity.
There are so many things for which to be grateful, and this time of year highlights all the blessings that we may take for granted throughout the year. Take some time this season to brighten someone’s day and make their holiday season a little better.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from all of us at Bridgewater!!!
